About Deflying Fitness

Deflying Fitness is a fitness training company based around the foundations needed to become a circus performer. Not only are these programs beneficial for circus performers, but they also happen to be great for dancers, yoga enthusiasts, crossfitters, athletes, and anyone looking for a fun and exciting new way to fine-tune their overall strength, flexibility and fitness.

Founded by Andralyn Zayn and Duane Steel–a married couple / circus partnership specializing in Icarian Games. Deflying Fitness offers fitness programs specifically designed to help develop the strength and flexibility required to perform the amazing feats featured in acrobatic circus performances.

Deflying Fitness offers a wide range of strength training, flexibility training and handstand training programs for all levels of ability. Clients can choose from online coaching, personal training, classes, workshops, and teacher trainer certifications.

Andralyn Zayn

In Melbourne, Australia September of 2007, Andralyn created a flexibility class geared towards increasing range of motion in people of all ages and abilities. Since then she has brought those classes to Vancouver, Montreal, and Toronto Canada, as well as Albany New York. She provides certifications to help up and coming teachers who already possess some knowledge and interest in the subject of flexibility the opportunity to learn how to teach these classes for themselves.

Since the founding of Deflying Fitness in August of 2013 there are now opportunities to learn how to bring all of circus basics to your teachings and practice. She has created certifications that are nationally recognized for Flexibility, Handstands, Aerial Strength, and Acrobatic Fitness.

She has been performing as a circus performer since 2001 in specialities such as; Icarian games, Teeterboard, Hand to hand, Fast Track, Bungee Trapeze, Duo Trapeze, and Handbalancing.

She loves to teach admiring circus performers, as well as everyday people trying to improve their lives. They best thing about circus is that there is a specialty for everyone, because if you can’t find one that you know, you can always create your own.

Duane Steel

Duane comes from a background in hockey and other team sports. After meeting Andralyn and falling in love with both her and the circus, he now trains and performs as Andralyn’s Icarian Games base.

Duane has been working as a professional circus base for 7 years. He brings his expertise of basing Icarian games, and Hand to Hand to the team at Deflying. He has also been studying foot juggling, and ball and club juggling. It is a great compliment to understanding how to base a human being.

He is also certified in all of the Deflying Fitness courses and has been assisting Andralyn since the opening of Deflying Fitness.

Leigh Woodhall

Leigh is a performer and coach. Her main focus is aerial silks and hand to hand, but is also studied in solo and partner static trapeze and aerial hoop.
As a child, Leigh started her artistic path at the age of four when her parents enrolled her in figure skating. She continued to figure skate into her late teens, during this time she expanded her artistic interests by joining her school’s cheerleading team. While continuing to skate and cheerlead during high school she was also very involved in the drama club and school musicals. When Leigh went to college she became the captain of the UOIT/Durham College cheerleading team, and with three other students she helped create the UOIT Dance Team. After school, she moved to Toronto and kept up with her artistic interests by taking multiple dance classes and eventually finding her true passion in aerial silks and hand to hand.

Glory Dearling

Glory is a trained performer and aerialist specializing in aerial hoop, aerial silks and floor and partner acrobatics. She is a certified personal trainer, Thai massage practitioner, yoga instructor, gymnastics coach and handstand trainer. She loves working with individual clients and teaching classes. She has had client success with people from many different physical backgrounds, including elderly individuals, children, and athletes. Her background in theatre arts lends to her outgoing personality, and creativity in her lesson plans. Her favourite part of teaching is seeing the progression of her students and helping them achieve their goals. She is motivational, with a good sense of humour which lends to her ability to lead an engaging and fun class.
